In search for the most preferred solution in value efficiency analysis

Abstract Choosing the Most Preferred Solution (MPS), namely a real or artificial Decision Making Unit (DMU) reflecting decision maker’s preferences over desirable structure of inputs and outputs, is particular importance in Value Efficiency Analysis (VEA). In this paper, we review various MPS choices used VEA literature propose some new, which rely respectively on relative position frontier DMUs, Productive Scale Size (MPSS), Average Production (APU), common vectors weights. The suggested reflect overall organizational goals such as pursuit scale economies maximization structural efficiency, need to assess DMUs against standards because limited control resources allocated them autonomy setting their own priorities. potential implications using different MPSs are illustrated by providing comparative empirical results dataset 526 Greek cotton farms.
